Houstonian Brides have an undeniable love for bridal sessions. Although most photographers offer an engagement session in their packages, and I am not an exception to this rule, I see a tendency that never goes away with my Houstonian brides and that is the love of having a bridal portrait session prior to her big day.
Having your bridal portraits is a great way of having a little glimpse of how things are going to look at your wedding day, however what I see happening over and over is that tradition plays a much bigger role than anything else. It is something that is being passed down from their mothers, maybe even going back from their grandmothers - don’t take my word for that, I am just looking at things as they seem to be. But one thing is remarkable about bridals and that is the fact that there is a long line of tradition that Houstonian brides unconsciously (Maybe?) maintain.
And this is beautiful! It has meaning and it has a place, especially in their hearts. I see that the aesthetic part of it, although cherished, is almost secondary. Some brides will proudly display one of two of their favorite images at the reception whereas others will simply print a few to keep or gift their parents with. Whatever their heart desire, they will have that memory for many years to come and they know that this is one last thing to worry about on their wedding day.
If you are planing on a bridal session, or even if this is not a tradition in your family, maybe you can start one! It is an idea that will sure bring memories for many years to come.
